Children's Cup has operations bases in Swaziland, Mozambique, and Zimbabwe, with a special interest in Vietnam.

SWAZILAND ////////////////////////

Children's Cup has its Africa offices in Swaziland, a beautiful country that is being ravaged by the terrors of having 43% of its population HIV-positive. The effects of such a high infection rate reach deep into the soul of this country, making it one of the neediest places in the world. Children's Cup has estabished an extensive network of CarePoints in Swaziland.

MOZAMBIQUE ////////////////////////

Mozambique is the location for one of the most exciting partnership projects. Mission of Mercy, Healing Place Church, The Family Church and Children's Cup are partnering together in this CarePoint to establish a much larger campus with facility to not only run a CarePoint, but to hold services in the "Terry Melancon Chapel," and eventually to house a women's center for skills training and counseling. Isaac and Carol Williams pastor the new campus of Healing Place Church at this location, while they also serve as CarePoint directors for the site.

ZIMBABWE ////////////////////////

This is where Children's Cup first began working in Africa. Because of political turmoil, it has been very difficult to operate in Zimbabwe for the past several years, but God has recently opened the door for some new opportunities and the chance to bolster existing efforts. One of the new and very exciting opportunities in Zimbabwe is the new church being launched by Dixon Changara, a long-time friend of Children's Cup who recently joined the team. "Oasis of Life" is a church that is thriving in part because of the tremendous favor they have found with Celebration Church, the church that has assumed the responsibility of providing resources needed for the church planting project.

VIETNAM ////////////////////////

In the early 1970's, Children's Cup founder Dave Ohlerking directed relief projects in Vietnam and escaped in the April 1975 final evacuation from Saigon. In 1992, he returned to Hanoi with medical relief projects with a special emphasis on the child victims of Agent Orange. Children's Cup has shipped about $700,000 in donated medical relief supplies to the Viet Duc Hospital in Hanoi and other medical institutions.

Children's Cup honors US veterans who served in Vietnam in its projects there under the theme of "New Beginnings." USAF Lt. Col. Paul Kari, a downed pilot who spent 8 years being tortured in the infamous "Hanoi Hilton," returned to Hanoi with Ohlerking and participated in the projects. This had profound effect on the officials there.

The projects resulted in the Chief Surgeon of Vietnam (likened to our Surgeon General) visiting the Children's Cup headquarters and staying several days in the Ohlerking home. Vietnam Projects include medical equipment donations, and water purification systems, and housing assistance.

Please pray with us for continued favor and wisdom in our approach to showing Christ's love to the people of Vietnam.
