Haiti has been described as a place of hand-to-hand combat with the devil.

It has always tested the edges of my theology. These beautiful people have been hammered by political, spiritual, hurricane and humanitarian disasters.

This earthquake is a near-death blow. Recovery will be measured in years.

In the decade of the eighties I directed a program that built dozens of schools (some now collapsed by the quake) and provided daily education and food for 42,000 children. Haiti owns part of my heart.

Healing Place Church, Children’s Cup’s home church and partner in Africa, has an experienced team for disaster response already in motion. A series of hurricanes has tested and taught the HPC team.
