Every Christmas, we get to do something very exciting for the precious children of Africa. We call it “Christmas at the CarePoints” – a celebration with children who typically don’t get to celebrate much.
Swaziland’s children are faced with one of the highest AIDS infection rates in the world – nearly 50%. One of the results of this is that a whole lot of children have lost their parents. This makes the poverty they already face even worse. And the situation for children is similar in Zimbabwe and Mozambique as well.
When you’re hungry, it’s hard to celebrate hope.
At Children’s Cup, we are fighting to change all of that. Through our partnerships and with the help of thousands of generous supporters like you, we feed children daily. We give them medical care, education support, and spiritual discipleship. And at Christmas, we throw them a huge party with a feast of a meal, tons of fun with inflatable games, and a load of interactive lessons about Jesus and his love for people.
It takes $10 per child for us to make these parties happen. With an average of 250 children from each of our CarePoints, the cost adds up quickly. But, think about this – when we buy gifts for our own kids, it’s often very easy to spend an extra $10 for that “just one more” type of small gift, or to drop an extra $10 on your dinner tip to bless your waiter at Christmas time.
We encourage everyone to keep doing those things! But can we ask you to add one more? Your $10 probably won’t be something you’ll miss for long, but it’ll provide a blessing for a child in Africa that he or she will remember forever.
And because it’s more than just a party – it’s an opportunity we take to tell them about Jesus, your $10 just might be what allows them the chance to give their heart to Jesus and spend eternity with you in Heaven!
