Ohlerking directed relief projects in Vietnam and escaped in the April 1975 final evacuation from Saigon.  In 1992 he returned to Hanoi with medical relief projects with a special emphasis on the child victims of Agent Orange.  Children's Cup has shipped about $700,000 in donated medical relief supplies to the Viet Duc Hospital in Hanoi and other medical institutions.

Children's Cup honors US veterans who served in Vietnam in its projects there under the theme of "New Beginnings."  USAF Lt. Col. Paul Kari, a downed pilot who spent 8 years being tortured in the infamous "Hanoi Hilton," returned to Hanoi with Ohlerking and participated in the projects.  This had profound effect on the officials there.

The projects resulted in the Chief Surgeon of Vietnam (likened to our Surgeon General) visiting the Children's Cup headquarters and staying several days in the Ohlerking home.
